Economic experts have laid special emphasis on the need to spur
investment in the agricultural and hydropower development sector to
attain the stipulated economic growth rate.
At a programme organised here on Friday, former Vice-chairperson of National Planning Commission (NPC) Deependra Bahadur Kshetry claimed that the policy-stated economic growth rate would be achieved if budget was unveiled by laying special emphasis on the agriculture sector.
Acting Chairperson of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar said that the upcoming budget should not get any political colour. He also added that only a full budget could take the country ahead.
He stressed that the private sector and investment-friendly budget was the need of the hour.
Economist Prof Dr Biswombhar Pyakurel underlined the need to devise concrete measures to make the country economically empowered, scale up agriculture, hydropower and tourism sector and control price hike.
Similarly, economic expert Prof Madan Dahal stressed that the coming budget should be poor and investment-friendly, adding that the budget addressing lapses is the foremost need of the day.
