Nepal Telecom to pay Rs 48 dividend per share

The telecom has earmarked Rs 61 crore 24 lakh 42 thousand for paying out dividends after setting aside the amount to be paid to the government. The dividend was set aside in NT’s budget for the FY 2070/71.

The government owns 91 percent share in the telecom. The remaining stakes are held by Citizen Investment Trust (0.03), general public (3.97) and the NT employees (4.5).

As per this distribution, in order to provide a dividend of Rs 48 per share, the NT will have to allocate Rs 24 lakh for CIT, Rs 28 crore 58 lakh for public shareholders and Rs 32 crore 42 lakh for NT employees. Likewise, the government, which owns majority stake in NT, will get a total dividend of Rs 58 crore 75 lakh.

This year NT earned Rs 10 arba 69 crore 72 lakh in profit after tax, which is 1 arba less than last year. The telecom hopes to increase its profit by Rs 1 arba 37 crore.

At present, Nepal Telecom has a paid up capital of Rs 15 arba.
