Nepali rupee gained Rs 1.30 against USD, Gold Rs 44,850 per 10 grams on Friday

Nepali rupee gained Rs 1.30 against US dollar this week as the Indian currency, with which rupee is pegged,
strengthened against the greenback. Gold price went up by Rs 955 per 10 grams in the domestic market as the price of yellow metal increased in the international bullion market.

CURRENCY
Nepali rupee gained Rs 1.30 against US dollar over the week. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority, opened currency trading on Sunday with exchange rate of US dollar fixed at Rs 96.00.

Rupee gained 75 paisa on Monday but shed 29 paisa on Tuesday to close at Rs 95.54. Though rupee shed another 26 paisa to 95.80 on Wednesday, it bounced back, gaining a massing 90 paisa on Thursday.

The Indian currency gained against the greenback on Thursday as the Reserve Bank of India´s measures to drain liquidity started to show impact, although demand for the greenback from importers towards late trade meant the unit closed just marginally stronger, according to Reuters.
Rupee gained another 20 paisa on to close at Rs 94.70 on Friday - the last trading day of the week.

Meanwhile, the local currency gained Rs 1.17 against Euro this week. Euro was exchanged at Rs 124.90 on Friday.

BULLION
Gold became dearer by Rs 955 per 10 grams this week. Bullion trading opened on Sunday with gold priced at Rs 43,895 per 10 grams. The yellow metal became dearer by Rs 860 per 10 grams to Rs 44,755 on Monday. Gold price went up by Rs 430 per 10 grams on Tuesday and another Rs 85 per 10 grams on Wednesday to close at Rs 45,270 per 10 grams.

Though the price dropped by Rs 860 per 10 grams on Thursday, it again gained Rs 440 per 10 grams to close at Rs 44,850 per 10 grams on Friday.
The price of silver, as well, increased by Rs 17 per 10 grams this week. On Friday, silver was traded at Rs 711.50 per 10 grams.
