I have always been advocating for long
term investment. I would advise you to atleast hold for a period of 3-5
years and invest in those scripts which have been constantly providing
dividends to its shareholders i.e. companies with good dividend history
to make sure that you get returns on your investment for the duration of
time you hold. Also make sure that the companies are the ones with high
growth prospects, keeping in mind to diversify your portfolio.
Here is my list of companies that would be profitable in the long term:
Nepal Telecom, Soaltee Hotel, Citizen Investment Trust, Chilime, Butwal Power, Standard Chartered, Nabil, Everest, Nepal Investment, Himalayan Bank, NIC-Asia, Nepal SBI, Bank of Kathmandu, Prime Commercial, Chimmek Laghubitta Bikash Bank, Nerude Laghubitta Bikash Bank, Sagarmatha Insurance, NLG Insurance, Shikhar Insurance, Himalayan General Insurance, Siddhartha Insurance, Nepal Life Insurance etc.
These are the companies we all would include in our portfolio provided we have enough funds. You can choose atleast 7-8 companies from the above list if that fits your budget as it will be easier for you to manage your portfolio. This is the right time to enter the market but also make sure that you exit at the right time as well even if you are investing for long term.
Note: I might have missed many good companies as I have not included development banks and finance companies in the above list and I apologize for that.
