Minister for Finance, Shanker Prasad Koirala urged the Employees
Provident Fund (EPF) to bring the cheaper project to manage residence to
the employees ensuring that the government would manage the land for
the project.
Addressing the employees after the Central Office of the EPF, Minister Koirala said, the organization that have commercial thought of broad plan of making depositors rich for it is connected to the future of 470,000 Civil Servants.
The budget for the fiscal year 2070/2071 B.S. has managed provision for health insurance and expressed commitment to implement the health insurance facility coordinating with the Insurance Board and EPF.
Administrator of the Fund, Krishna Prasad Acharya, said that it has been difficult to maintain Fund's outcome as per the inflation rate, and realized for not being able to provide service and facilities as per the aspiration of depositors.
Establishment of Social Security Fund has increased risk for the limitation of role of the EPF, he added.
On the occasion, representatives of Employees' Trade Union, stressed on the need of making the EPF free from political interference.
They also drew attention of the Finance Minister to stop a trend of providing amount to the corporations, which are in loss, with the change of governments.
The EPF has signed an agreement to provide Rs. 10 billion to the Nepal Airlines Corporations to buy new aircrafts through the government, recently. It has also invested on under construction Upper Tamakoshi and Chilime Hydropower Project.
